MIA

Why hello there lovelies!

I am sorry that I was MIA this week! I have been super busy and super sick.

On Wednesday I worked all day then came home and pretty much fell asleep, which means I am just going to miss this Wayback Wednesday. Then on Thursday I got super sick at work and couldn't even function properly. When they say bad things come in threes, Thursday lived up to that! First I was so sick I couldn't function. Then when I got a little better I had to bring the bins in and got bitten by a bee. Thirdly, I burnt myself when finishing dinner! It was awful!

My bee sting ):
The thing is I had something super cool thought out for this week! O well I will have to save it for next week.

I am sorry that this is so lame, but ugh, I still feel like crap.

Wayback Wednesday!

Why hello there my loves.

My local radio station has this running program called "Timeline". I am sure you can guess what this does, but I better explain just in case. "Timeline" plays songs from the past and today they played from 2008. I had never realised how many songs from 2008 I just loved until today. Driving home they played at least 6 songs and out of those 6 songs, I loved 100% of them, both in 2008 and now.

Taking inspiration from that program, I thought I would start a weekly update on one of my favourite songs from a different year. These will be Wednesday posts, I promise.

This week it is Newton Faulkner - Dream Catch Me.
This song is just perfect and I could listen to it for days!

See you soon!!

P.S There will be another post from me this week (:

Week One - Prac

Hey there!

My blog has been pretty bare lately and I will admit I have been in a bit of a writer's block since I have been so busy with work and my final prac starting. During this past week I have been going to prac and I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to show you what make-up I have been reaching for. I wanted to look natural instead of caked with make-up.

Products: (top to bottom; left to right)

  • Covergirl Lash Exact Waterproof Mascara - when I first started make-up this was my mascara and I have suddenly fallen back into the habit of using it.
  • Benefit Rockateur blush - New to my collection this blush gives perfect coverage and blends in perfectly with my skin/skin tone
  • Ubran Decay Naked 3 palette - These colours * are perfect for a natural look, they also blend together perfectly and easily in the morning.
  • Rimmel BB Cream; Light - This was an impulse buy last Sunday when I realised my BB cream I had ordered online would (obviously) not make it for me to wear on Tuesday, however this had worked well with my skin and gives good coverage.
  • Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter (colour 080 Strawberry Shortcake) - Again, another impulse buy in Priceline last Sunday, but the colour is perfect and stays on for a long time.
  • Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder - To keep the BB cream in place I found the perfect thing a few days earlier and I'm so glad I can reach for this everyday.

*here are the shades
A look I wore

I hope this helps some of you who need to create a natural look for a party/something you are doing.
Stay safe

Jess Reviews.... Bronzer

Hey guys it's Jess!

If you don't know about my review posts click here. This week I will be reviewing Maybelline New York Dream Terra Sun Bronzing powder.

I have been trying so many bronzers over the last few months to find the perfect blend for my skin. I am still looking even with this bronzer.

Packaging
The packaging on this bronzer is actually really handy. Although it looks like a package that would just fall all over your bag. However, the lid screws on and stays on. It also helps that you can see the product before purchasing. The cute pattern on the product I believe helps sell this bronzer.

Product
As you hardly ever seem to find a light bronzer in the town I live when I finally found one I thought all my searching was over. However when applied to my skin it is a lot darker than first thought. When I was looking at this product at Chemist Warehouse there were no 'try me' products which made it had for me to actually know what it looked like. I hardly ever put much on nor do I overload my brush. But it seems to give me this dark brown on my head some days that makes it look like someone has punched me in the face. Other days however it suits my skin perfectly, so whether it is my skin or the product I don't know. The other negative factor about this product is the smell. I have a Rimmel bronzer that smells define and when compared to Dream Terra Sun bronzer it smells like heaven on earth.
bronzer has this earthy smell to it, but worse, if you ever get the chance do have a smell.

Overall I give this product a 3 out of 10.

See you soon!

Achievements?

Hey guys it's Jess.
Disclaimer: Text Heavy

Over the past few weeks a whole lot has happened in my life (not to me, but to my friends/family). It has made me think about how much I feel like I haven't achieved for my life in the last 19 years. It started with tonight (Tuesday) thinking about how my brother is getting married next weekend. My brother is obviously older then me, but it is a scary thought to think that just in a week's time he will be a married man and I will have a sister-in-law.
It's also made me think about what I haven't achieved that so many other people my age have. It sounds pretty stupid to write a 'things I haven't achieved' when I've only been alive 19 years and 8 months.
But instead of just writing this I haven't achieved I'm going to write 'things I have achieved'. That could be in a few weeks time though.

Something that so many of my friends have done in the past year is moved out of home. I am so excited to finally move out of my house but it makes me so nervous to think one day I'll have to pay my way in life and I feel as if I'm failing as an 'adult' because I haven't moved out yet.

Another thing so many people I know have already got is a full time job. Me I have two casual jobs where in one of them I'd rather not. It is also frustrating when people you know from high school come in and like look down on you because you're still packing shelves or serving or whatever.

Perfect grades have never been my domain and hearing that people are getting HD and D's for all of their assignments makes you feel really bad about yourself. It also makes it hard for me when my brothers do courses harder then mine and come home with those grades.

I haven't even owned my first car yet. UGH.

I can go on and on but this is making me so angry. See you next week!

Life in pictures.

Hey guys it's Jess!

Recently I went out and bought a new camera to take shots for my blog and other things that I would love to take photos of. I've always been one to like photography but never really took it all that seriously because people would always assume I'm just following the crowd. I have been interested in this for ages and I would never want to make a 'job' out of it per say. I just really like photographing things.

So I was messing around with it while outside with my dogs today (while taking photos for an upcoming blog) because I thought I'd take some nice shots just quickly and check out all the different modes etc. and just have a mess around and I came upon some really nice shots I'd love to share with you guys.
Look at this cutie pie.

I have edited all these photos to make them look a lot better, except one. I'm really unhappy with one editing of the photo but I just didn't know what else to do. Maybe when I change the editing on it I'll reupload it here.

I hope you enjoyed this. See you next week!

5 Things I like in my Bedroom.

Hey guys it's Jess

Ever since I have moved into my new house (I use the term new loosely) I haven't been able to perfect my bedroom. This bedroom is a lot smaller than my old bedroom which makes it hard to make any decisions about placements of beds etc. But I thought today would be a great day to talk about my top 5 things I like that are in my bedroom (these are in no particular order).

  1. My bookcase. This is so useful, it may not have many books on it nor books you might like but ugh I just love books. It's also really handy to have my tv and other nic nacs on it as I don't really have anywhere else to put these things.
  2. My bed. Like seriously, who doesn't love their bed!
    Ignore the messy bed
  3. My duchess. It might look messy and might look like I never use it. But I do. This thing is my gem. This house does not have a full length mirror so that mirror is one of the best things I have ever owned. It also is something I inherited from my grandmother who I love dearly.

  4. My floating shelves. Since this bedroom is a lot smaller than my bedroom from my old house these shelves are a life saver. If only I had more room to put more up!

  5. My blue wall. The photo probably does this no justice. But I have forever loved the colour blue and have always wanted to paint my room a perfect blue and I must say this is pretty close to perfect. This wall has taken me 18 years to achieve and I'm so happy it has FINALLY become a reality.

I'm sorry this is so late. I got so annoyed on Friday, then was so busy on the weekend with my two party things I had on and then I had assignments I figured I should do to get them out of the way.
But I will see you this weekend!

Girly Girl?

Hey guys it's Jess!

Are you a girly girl? Or do you wish you were more girly? Or even just wish you knew more hairstyles? Yeah well the last two are me. In the last 3 years I've worn 2 hairstyles (with like 2 variations of the hairstyle). There's my updo which wasn't really 'up' half the time, which I would change to a side ponytail every other day (how vanilla right?). Then I'd just wear it down and on occasion with twirly things on the side (adventurous, I know!).

Now since going to university and I don't know just living my life a bit more I've realised I want to be a bit more 'girly' and use make-up and do my hair fancy and you know do something different every once in a while. So I taught myself how to fishtail braid this week (I obviously watched youtube videos). It's really quiet bad but at least I can do something different now, once I get a little better. You have to realise this is a BIG deal for me since I could not even plait before this week because I'm a pretty uncoordinated person.

Also while trialing hairstyles I've figured out that I look much better with my hair higher up rather than where I'd wear it previously (which Sophie has been telling me since first year). Which means my go to hairstyle now is just a variation on my first style just up a bit and it's so much less hassle than my earlier one.

So now my next challenge is doing my makeup, just in general.
Wish me luck!

See you next week!

Worst Fears.

Hey guys it's Jess!

Now I went and saw The Lone Ranger yesterday with one of my all time favourite people. When watching this film it had 2 of my absolute most hated fears and I thought that this would be a great opportunity to get to know each other (me in particular) through our fears.

Let's Begin!

Fear 1.
Crows! I am absolutely afraid of crows. Now let me tell you there is no real reason behind this phobia of mine it's just there. I don't even think I've had it for very long but just the thought of these birds makes me skwrim. I once was almost in tears trying to get to my class for university because there was a crow in the corridor (my friend actually thought I was waiting for her, I was not. [opps]). Like I just cannot stand them.
Also The Lone Ranger has like this one main crow in it and at the very beginning it likes comes to life and I like piss myself because it's like jumping at me and I want to die rather than sit through this movie and my friend had brought someone along (I have met her but only once) and she was like 'What?' and my friend had to tell her how s&*! scared I am of them and you just hear her laugh throughout the cinema (it was terrifying).

Fear 2.
Blood in mouths! Ok this isn't really like I'm afraid of it I just find it really disgusting (so I mean we picked a perfect movie for Jess to see). As you know I am studying to be a teacher qualifying in Early Childhood, which means I do come across a lot of loose teeth in my profession and with loose teeth brings blood in mouths. I don't know WHAT it is about this but I just cannot really deal with it. Usually when they come up to me I have to send them to wash their mouths out before I even think about dealing with the tooth situation.

Fear 3.
Dead Animals. When I was about 12 we had 3 birds in a cage down the back of my house. One day I went to see the birds because my dog was jumping and barking at it (by this stage 1 had flown away and 1 had died) so I went down to see what was the problem and there looking at me was this dead bird. I freaked out and almost threw up! I had to go tell my parents that this bird was dead and they were trying to tell me to take it out and put it in a plastic bag (the thought of this story is making me want to puke!) I just said to them I couldn't. When asked why I told them I'm afraid of dead animals and their response was you sit on dead animals all the time, you eat dead animals at dinner. So to clarify because you are probably thinking the same as my parents, I can't handle the fully like formed dead animals like the one in the photograph (I had to wait until I had finished typing this whole blog to actually put the photo up).

Fear 4.
The dark. A lot of the people I know, know I am afraid of the dark and as I'm getting older I'm realising it's not so much the dark it's what may be in the dark that I am afraid of. At the moment I've been doing fine but I figure it comes it loads. When I watch shows on murder or kidnapping (which is actually a favourite past time of mine) I seem to have a lot more difficulty with the dark than I would have in the times I don't watch/read about those things.

So there is just four of my biggest fears! I have like 2 other blogs on the backburner but didn't know how to write about the topics so hopefully one of them will be up next week. (Spoiler alert!!! One is about boy bands! How cools is that (;).
Have a fantastic week.
See you next week!

Death in the Digital Age.

Hey guys it's Jess!

I have never been able to get my head around death and I mean I'm sure that's a normal reaction. Throughout my 19 years of living I've experienced three people die, the first person I did not really know but she was my aunt. Which meant that I as an 8 year old cried at her funeral, however I did not know what was actually going on. Now that I've experienced other deaths I still however do not know what actually happens.

Which brings me to the point of this weeks post. Death. This week hasn't come with someone who died who I was close with however it came from the death of (if you've been living under a rock) Cory Monteith. I've watched this man on Glee for the last four years. He was not my favourite character nor was he my 'idol', but it was still a heart breaking moment to know that he died (yes, I know why he died, so whatever).

What made me sick was that not only did I find out almost right after he was found, there were many news reports and speculations about his death when you just searched his name. It makes me sad to think that that can happen so closely to someone's death.
Which brings me to my next point the Digital Age. Growing in such a technological age has made me reap the benefits and the hurt of this technology. By being able to see someone's death before even the family know (yes this has happened) makes me SICK a family should know before the whole world.

Social media allows us to stay in touch, get to know and understand people we have met/never met in our lives which makes it difficult to say that we never share anything about ourselves. A lot of teenagers share everything. What happens when something tragic happens to them? When they stop uploading facebook statuses? When they stop uploading selfies on instagram? Everyone they know will know something has happened, they will talk and they will speculate which means that is there too. Search their name you'll find it I'm sure.

The point of this was just I'm disappointed and scared about where our technology in this time is going to take us. What is the future going to hold for us?

See you next week!

Song I've been listening to one repeat this week!

Awkward Introductions.

Hey there guys it's Jess!

I'm in my third year of university studying teaching. My life is pretty boring but I'm here to blog about it. Isn't that adorable! I'm hoping to update every week (which will probably be a Friday or Saturday) depending on what my week has been like or how hectic my week is.

So this week I should probably give you at least 10 facts you might like to know about me (other than the ones that I've already mentioned).

  1. My favourite band is from England and they never tour here. Which is a total bummer.
  2. I live in a little town in Australia.
  3. I am not on prac at the moment.
  4. I have two jobs (money is still limited)
  5. I'm not a big colour person
  6. I'm the youngest of three children in my family
  7. I'm three years out of high school and I'm so glad.
  8. I spend my time on youtube and tumblr (surprise surprise that I'm blogging).
  9. I feel like the unsuccessful child
  10. When I eat things I have to eat it in a certain order, I can not deal eating it any other way.
Well this is my first blog and I will see (well you know, you'll read) my blog next week!

Bye guys!
