O where for art thou holidays!?

I feel like it's been forever since I've had time away for just me. Me time. I know that last time I was away was January but that was OVER 6 months ago! How crazy is that! We are half way through the year like what!?

Anyway, as I am currently on university break my friend and I thought it would be a great idea to take a quick trip away for the weekend! I was so excited for this trip, I seriously started counting down the week we booked to go away! I do realise how many exclamation points I have already used but I feel it is necessary in my current state.

So we packed up and headed to a wonderful weekend away.

The weekend was amazing! I spent too much money (which I hate), we ate till our stomachs burst and drunk too much of everything.

We had such a wonderful weekend we forgot to take any pictures! Which is actually what this post was meant to be. But stayed tuned for a Brisbane Haul (;

Meeting the Parents!

Hey there!

Although Max and I have been together for 4 years, I still hadn't met his biological father (that's a long story and we won't get into it). This week however I have come down to Sydney to finally meet him and Max's extended family. Since I have now met an 'in-law' family three times I thought I would give you a list of do's and don't's for a look back if you ever get nervous or anxious ever meeting a partners family.

Do
  • Be friendly, talk with and engage in conversations with the family. Even if you have never tried or don't know much about the topic, try and engage in all conversations.
  • Talk in sentences. This may sound stupid because everyone talks in sentences right? No. See I just did it. Sure sometimes you don't know what to say and you say 'yes' or 'no' to a question but don't answer all your question with one or two words.
  • Engage in activities. It might not be your scene but always try. (I may be a bit hypercritical here since I am typing this while a game of something I am not into is being played, but I will say I have tried a lot of other things).
  • Be confident with yourself. If you are nervous or anxious just remember that even though you may be meeting their family, your partner loves you and their family will love you if you be yourself.

Don't
  • Sit in silence the whole time. Yes you may not know what to say or know anything about the conversation that is happening, but if the family try and include you, include yourself, don't sit around and wait to be invited again
  • Sulk about not having attention. It's easy to do and you may not even realize you are doing it but make sure you are not always pulling your partner away from their family just so you can have a conversation with them.
  • Follow them around. This sounds like a perfect idea (especially for someone who is shy) but you don't want to be remembered as the partner who followed their partner around the whole time.
Meeting family can be daunting and scary but remember that your partner loves you and their family will love you too if you show them the real you.

Hope this helps at least a little!

Brisbane and Taylor Swift!

Hey guys it's Jess!

Firstly let me begin by saying sorry for not blogging last weekend, I was away and had a stressful week with prac and work again. Although this week has not been easy for me either at least I have a topic to talk about.

Last weekend Max and I took a trip down to Brisbane to see Taylor Swift live in concert again! It was such a great experience and I loved it from start to finish. The supporting acts for Taylor were Neon Trees and Guy Sebastian, which meant they both got half an hour on stage. The first few songs Neon Trees played had the audience disappointed (or maybe that was just me). Then Guy Sebastian came on and I am not the biggest fan of him, I never have been even in his days of Angels Brought Me Here. But Max and I just dance and sang to our hearts content.

Then it was time for the main event TAYLOR! I took my shocking little camera that Max bought me forever ago with me which meant that only a couple of my pictures turned out ok, and by ok I mean really just ok.

As always Taylor Swift was stunning and the music was perfect and the night was incredible!

Since Christmas is only 11 days away (how excited are you!) it meant Queen Street Mall had all types of decorations set up. We walked past the Christmas tree every day and I just had to have a picture, so I took the opportunity to take pictures of other decorations around the Mall!

Thank you for the peace sign (:

Long weekend blues.

Hey guys it's Jess!

This weekend for Queenslanders is a long weekend and I am allowing it to come with open arms (after my last two weeks of working full time). Since Max has to work for the next two days, due to being the youngest one there, we took the opportunity today to go to the beach and just hang out together.

I took my Samsung A57 with me and captured some nice photographs with it.

The water was so perfect today that you could not not swim in it and the rock pools are always my first spot for sighting both fish and crabs. Today on the beach all our little crabs were scattering along quickly, they were all too small to capture however.

Although Max is back at work for the next two days of this perfect long weekend I will still be using my new found time to my best advantage. Starting yoga and swimming everyday to lose a little weight.

See you soon!

Introducing.....

Hey guys it's Jess

So I have been keeping a secret from you for the last month (really if you follow me on tumblr/instagram you actually already know). I have a boyfriend who's name is Max.
Look at this cutie pie.

The reason behind telling you this is because he will probably appear in many of the blogs I post (I think he has already appeared, but however).

I'm sorry I don't have a more exciting post but, I'm so tired, I have been working heaps and I just haven't had time to myself.

See you soon!
